Interim event of Triennial 2020
Diversity Modernism | Modernism Diversity
Digital Event for UNESCO World Heritage Day 2020
Based on the six "Estates of Berlin Modernism", inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2008, the Berlin State Monuments Office and the Berlin network of Triennial of Modernism present a special - purely digital - UNESCO World Heritage Day on June 7, 2020. Berlin's most recent World Heritage Site exemplifies a time of radical upheaval in architecture, urban planning, art and society. The creative diversity found in the 1920s is as much a theme of the event as the range and continuity of the ideas and forms of post-war modernism that developed from it. Under the motto "Diversity Modernism | Modernism Diversity" twelve Berlin partners of the network will report on their projects in a video stream broadcast live from 11 am. This will be followed by two film premieres with impressions and interviews from the six Berlin World Heritage sitesEstates.
> To the live stream on Youtube from 11 a.m.

New interim format between the Triennial years
For the first time on World Heritage Sunday, 7.6.2020 from 11.00 a.m.
To coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of Greater Berlin and the limited opportunities for visiting the city in times of Corona, the Berlin State Monuments Office is organizing an online event for people interested in architecture. The focus of interest is the epoch of Modernism, which is present in Berlin in a particularly diverse way. It finds its most prominent expression in Berlin's latest UNESCO World Heritage Site, the six "Estates of Berlin Modernism". With their construction, a new course was set, to which architecture and urban planning the post-war modernism after the Second World War again tied. The declared goal of the "Triennial of the Modernism" is to tell this idea- and culture-historical arc from the Elektropolis Berlin, over the reform housing construction, the New Building, up to the post-war modernism in the divided Berlin or the large housing estate construction of the 1970s.
With the event for the annual and cross-border World Heritage Day, the Triennial of Modernism , which was launched in 2013, will be visible for the first time outside the 3-year cycle. This year's speakers are part of the Berlin Program Partners 2019, representing various initiatives and institutions from whose environment some projects will be shown in the form of digital presentations and broadcast as an online stream. Initially live, later available via the newly created social media channels on Facebook and Youtube, where a few days later the offering will also be findable via the hashtag #TriennalederModerne.
